The Influence of Environment and Lifestyle on Myopia
This article reviews the growing evidence that environmental and lifestyle factors, particularly reduced outdoor activity and increased prolonged close-up tasks such as reading or screen use, play a key role in the rising global prevalence of myopia. It highlights how light exposure, visual environments, and behavioural patterns interact with genetic susceptibility to influence the onset and progression of myopia.
