Enhanced Services in Community Practice Providing a Minor Eye Conditions Service

The investigation and treatment of a range of common eye conditions has become a significant part of community optometry practice. This article will explain some of the legal framework, practical issues around providing the service, and discuss the treatment of some common conditions.

Best diagnostic practice, when to consider treatment and various management options will also be discussed. In addition, provision of medications by entry level Optometrists will be discussed and legal framework surrounding this will be covered. 

Specific examples that will be covered include, investigation and management of red eyes, lid margin disease, flashes and floaters and foreign bodies.
